Skills

Driven by the idea that collaboration and co-authorship is the most effective process to achieve the most interesting, forward thinking work. As such, working with, and providing direction to other creative thinkers is a key, developed part of the process.

Strong believer that good design must be useful and functional, and all aspects of a piece should be thought out and necessary to produce well considered work.

Developing strategy, from a visual and tonal standpoint. Having an understanding of what it means to be here, right now is critical, and staying connected to the ever shifting mindset of communities, culture and moods ensures work is relevant — content never appears in a vacuum, it's underpinned by context, whether intentionally or not.

Highly regarded print and digital design abiltity, with a solid understanding of form, typography and structure

Working with video and photography briefs, through all stages of production, to produce well formed, tight and engaging material.

Technical skills include use of Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects and Premiere Pro, hand-drawn visualisation, illustration, and a functional knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Experience

Brotherland
Creative Partner
Jan 2020 – present

One half of branding and creative communication consultancy Brotherland, working with long time collaborator Katie Norman.  We create meaningful communications that shape perceptions of brands, and define their place in society. We engage in ongoing partnerships with clients, designers, creative thinkers and cultural challengers, to provide brands with the strategic direction and consciousness that aligns them with the current behaviours and trends of their audience.

Dazed Media
Consultant Creative
Aug 2020 – present

Regular collaborator with Dazed Studio, who put brand partners at the centre of global youth culture, creating innovative, purpose-driven campaigns and content experiences across Dazed Media (AnOther, Dazed, NOWNESS, and Dazed Beauty) through an unrivalled creative network.

U-Dox
Consultant Art Director
Mar 2019 – Mar 2020

A long term collaboration with U-Dox on their work for BMW MINI, to develop their global brand strategy, visual identity and brand expression. This has involved working with other cultural collaborators to establish how MINI can credibly resonate as a broader lifestyle brand, and finding the holistic principles that can connect the various parts of the MINI ecosytem together. This allowed us to discover and challenge cultural territories for the brand to occupy, and recognise how it should express itself, before setting out the visual systems for communications.

Previous projects with U-Dox also include campaign work for Adidas Originals.

Signal
Art Director
2016 – 2019

Art director for the London office of this creative agency. Taking a central role in the creative department, we worked across a wide range of clients and industries to develop concepts for both integrated campaigns and one-off pieces, in design, photography, video and digital. This included digital campaigns for the Sainsbury's Bank, Bank of Ireland, and the Post Office; integrated campaign work for Cutty Sark Whisky; and special creative projects for the Change Centre, a groundbreaking foundation working to help the homeless population of Glasgow through football.

Tag Design & Interactive
Art Director
2011 – 2016

Part of TDI, the (now defunct) creative arm of multi-national advertising production company Tag. Working closely with the varied production departments of the network, notable projects include digital campaign work for Gucci fragrances, book visuals for D&G fragrances, typography design for Sony, as well as regular campaign work and activations across clients as diverse as Mondelez, P&G, Milka, Zurich and Santander.
